Our School

Laurel Springs School, founded in 1991, is a private school offering distance learning curricula and teacher services for students in grades K-12. Located in Ojai, California, approximately 80 miles northwest of Los Angeles, we serve students across the nation and worldwide, in over 43 countries.

Our mission is to create innovative educational programs that elicit young people’s innate love of learning and pride in their achievements and abilities. Our philosophy encompasses the belief that children benefit most from an educational process that respects an individual approach to learning.

Laurel Springs Academy for the Gifted and Talented, a division of Laurel Springs School, offers the gifted student a comprehensive program engaging students in intellectually stimulating curriculum and collaboration opportunities with like-minded peers and mentors through online symposia, discussions and seminars. Laurel Springs Academy students pursue an in-depth course of study that fosters creative and critical-thinking skills.

 

Our High School Program

Laurel Springs School provides a comprehensive standards-based high school program that includes transcripts and an academic diploma. We offer challenging academic courses and diverse elective credit options. Students must complete 235 units to graduate. Each year-long course earns 10 units and consists of 36 weeks of work with a minimum of four hours of study per week. Over 40 of our courses are certified as meeting University of California a-g admission requirements; 55 of our courses are certified by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as meeting its eligibility requirements. Laurel Springs School does not rank its students.

The Honors and AP Programs

The Laurel Springs Honors and AP Programs are intended for college-bound students seeking an extremely challenging academic curriculum. Using advanced curricula, teacher support and hands-on learning opportunities, each student fulfills challenging college entrance requirements while pursuing personal interests and individual goals. The Laurel Springs Honors and AP Programs emphasize vocabulary development, critical thinking, problem solving, expository writing and research. AP exams provide the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation’s colleges and universities.
