Laurel Springs families are highly diverse and live throughout the United States and around the world. No matter where our families or students are located, our community shares the same passion for excellence in education. All of our families, teachers and staff believe that educational achievement should not be bounded by the four walls of a school, and that by allowing the student and family to drive their own educational goals, the results are more meaningful to the student.
For decades, families have turned to Laurel Springs when traditional bricks and mortar schools have not met their needs. Our families are looking for a personalized approach that fits their student’s learning style, flexible scheduling, and a social and physical environment that is conducive to true learning. The Laurel Springs experience may start with an unmet need, but ends with so much more once families see the benefits of our personalized model of education.
Parents of Laurel Springs students enjoy seeing the many benefits of our educational model. Their children learn strong time management skills, develop a heightened sense of intrinsic motivation to achieve academic and extra-curricular success, and are able to pursue their own goals and interests while experiencing a premier college preparatory education.
Read about one family’s experience with Laurel Springs:
“Laurel Springs School has given us an alternative to traditional education where the confines of a classroom are eliminated. This allows us as parents to encourage an attitude of exploration as a form of education. The curriculum provided can be accessed anywhere in the world, is relevant and can be tied into daily living more so than if tied to a classroom or to one teacher for that matter. The people that have contributed to our son’s non-traditional education since our enrollment in Laurel Springs School have been considered mentors sharing their passion with him, rather than a teacher of one topic fulfilling only the requirements needed to pass a class. This includes marine biologists, university professors, business owners, mathematicians, meteorologists and even dive guides.
Our son’s Laurel Springs teachers have recognized his style of learning and encourage him to include his experiences in his assignments. It is a nice way to continue to draw upon his experiences to provide added meaning to his lessons. His teachers at Laurel Springs seem to take special interest in our son as an individual student, which is difficult to come by in traditional schooling methods. Our son appreciates that he can work at an accelerated rate while not having the confines of a work week schedule. He’ll often work in the evenings and weekends on his lessons to allow for scuba diving, tennis or other activities during the weekdays.”
