Summer School Tips

Your School and Laurel Springs

It is your responsibility to ask for your school’s approval. Please contact your school counselor and ask permission to take a summer course. We have a school profile and course outlines available below for download to give to your school counselor so they can approve the Summer School courses you have selected.

Time Management/Student Organization

It is essential for you to establish a routine, remember that time management is of utmost importance to finish your course on time! With distance learning comes a great deal of flexibility and freedom, but without any sense of routine may begin to feel a little lost. You may prefer a great deal of structure, or you may prefer a more relaxed feel to your days. It’s just important to have some form of plan, to help avoid surprises, missed obligations, falling behind, and stress.
Distance learning is a partnership between parents, students, your teacher(s) and Laurel Springs School. Committed participation is essential to make your online summer school experience a success.

Many students concurrently enroll with Laurel Springs. We support students needing to complete a core course or elective for graduation, make-up classes during summer term, students needing independent study as an alternative, homebound, and at-risk students.

The Laurel Springs Concurrent Enrollment Form is a binding contract between the Primary School and Laurel Springs School to ensure credits will be accepted by the Primary School. This form must be completed before enrolling in the requested courses. Either the principal or guidance counselor can authorize this approval for a student to enroll in academic courses with Laurel Springs School.

A one-time, $100 Laurel Springs admissions fee for concurrent students taking a full year course or two single semester courses will apply. This is a non-refundable fee applicable to all concurrent students.

The "Primary High School" will assume responsibility for maintaining student records and updating transcripts to reflect courses completed through Laurel Springs School. To facilitate record-keeping, the registrar of Laurel Springs School will forward an official transcript of all courses completed through our program, upon request.
