Laurel Springs School is proud to be the first private school offering distance-learning curricula to establish a chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). Membership in the NHS is an honor which recognizes academic achievement and service within the community, as well as personal character and leadership. The Laurel Springs Chapter of the National Honor Society provides a unique forum in which the student leaders of our school and community can join with others in their desire to change the world. Our students give life and vigor to the well known phrase by Sir Wilfred Grenfell, "Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile."

Our NHS Project

Laurel Springs School is committed to promoting environmental awareness. For its NHS school project, first year members will continue to address global environmental concerns through its newly designed online course for teens: Leaders4Earth. The course lessons will focus on climate change in alignment with the focus of the United Nations Environmental Programme for 2007. This course is the first of its kind and is an exciting opportunity for Laurel Springs students. Leaders4Earth gives members the opportunity to explore and exemplify what it means to be a global citizen and steward of the planet through specific environmental activities. Students will emerge as "eco-hero's" with the strong leadership skills necessary for the 21st century. Members will complete service hours and will be given high school credit upon completion of their course work.
