High School Orientation

Our online orientation provides the necessary information to ensure that each student has a rich and positive experience. High school students are presented with information and activities during orientation that empower them with the necessary skills to be successful in the Laurel Springs environment.  During orientation, families learn how students can be involved in collaborative learning opportunities such as student council (grades 9-12) and apply for admission to our chapter of the National Honor Society.

All high school students have opportunities to benefit from clubs and find dynamic educational and social experiences within our private online social network.  The Laurel Springs orientation course helps each student create develop a personal schedule and time management plan based on individual needs, learning style, and extra-curricular commitments. Students also learn how to navigate through courses and the grade book in order to maximize their learning experience. The orientation includes guidelines and expectations that help students understand how to achieve success within the flexible and supportive Laurel Springs learning environment.

The orientation also explains our teacher services, including office hours that enable your student to speak directly to his or her teacher. Ongoing communication and active participation are essential to building the relationship with your teacher, allowing for a valuable learning experience.  Outside of teacher services, orientation provides a directory of the support staff we have in place for our students, including school counselors, admissions coordinators, and our student services department. Our student services department uses a virtual classroom for daily office hours to help troubleshoot and answer questions.

The online orientation course is comprised of five lessons, which help your child learn essential skills for success as a Laurel Springs student. Students who complete the orientation course will know how to:

  • Navigate courses and gradebook
  • Submit course work for review
  • Communicate with the education team
