Laurel Springs is committed to offering families the help they need to navigate the college admissions process.
The Laurel Springs college counseling program is provided for all students in grades 8-12, and includes one-on-one coaching sessions and webinars on subjects such as selecting the right college, college entrance exam preparation, college application assistance, parent resources, and scholarship or financial aid resources.
The homeroom teacher is the first point of contact for the student and family. Whether the family is experienced at distance learning or needs help making the transition, the homeroom teacher is there for support, and guides the student through the orientation course. A key component to our college prep process is our program of grade-level specific seminars. These courses introduce students to college and life planning, preparation for standardized tests, writing skills, decision-making strategies, time management, and academic integrity. For each year of high school, students will receive .5 credits for these required courses. The homeroom teacher also provides support for the student during these seminars, as well as one other core course, depending on the teacher’s area of expertise. In addition to teacher support, we have also created a College Planning Timeline and comprehensive Planning for College Guide which you may view online or download a PDF version to help prepare our families for the college acceptance process.
For high school seniors, the counselor plays a key role in keeping students focused and on track for graduation. Counselors coordinate with the student’s teachers, write up to fifteen college recommendation letters, and assist in the preparation of college application essays.
School Counselors are assigned alphabetically by student’s last name. Find your family’s school counselor below.
