Laurel Springs is proud of our new chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), which is the organization founded to acknowledge outstanding middle school students. The National Junior Honor Society honors students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship.
Our chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is open to all eligible students, beginning in 7th grade, who meet scholastic and character requirements. Academy students are encouraged to apply. The Laurel Springs chapter recognizes students for their accomplishments, and challenges them to continue their achievements through active involvement in school activities and community service. Students are required to complete a school and personal project for each year of membership, and attend periodic NJHS Chapter meetings with fellow members throughout the school year.

2011-2012 NJHS Calendar of events
January 2012
Student files will be reviewed and nominations for membership will be conducted by the NJHS Chapter Advisor.
February 2012
Eligible students will receive a letter inviting them to apply to the National Junior Honor Society.
May 2012
Student responses and application materials are due.
June 2012
Students are notified by letter of their NJHS membership acceptance or denial.
July 2012
Students enroll in the required course and Community Service Portfolio, work on service projects and turn them in for review by the NJHS instructor. Students also must participate in any online chapter meetings organized by the NJHS instructor.
